About me

I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Systems Biology, mentored by Prof. Ilya Shmulevich and Prof. Wei Wei. I am also closely working with Prof. Jim Heath. My research focuses on developing machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to address complex challenges in biology, cancer, and healthcare. I work at the intersection of methodological innovation and real-world application, designing novel ML/AI algorithms as well as leveraging foundation models across diverse data modalities, including single-cell/spatial multi-omics data, imaging, natural languages, and molecular structures.

Previously, I completed my Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). During my graduate study, I was advised by Prof. Sanmi Koyejo and Prof. Mohammed El-Kebir. I also collaborated with Prof. Nicholas Chia of Mayo Clinic. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, I obtained my M.S. degree from the same school working with Prof. Jian Peng and my B.S. degree at Seoul National University in South Korea.
